ABOUT
Hi, I’m Dr. Kate! Â
I’m honored to guide you on your wellness journey. I’ll be not only your doctor, but also your trusted partner and biggest cheerleader. I’m here to listen to you, support you, and advocate for you every step of the way.Â
I know, from my own personal experience, that today’s healthcare system doesn’t usually allow for the time and space to foster deep connections between doctors and patients. You might get 5-10 minutes with a doctor you barely know before you’re sent on your way with a prescription. They don’t hear — or don’t know what to do with — your very real weight struggles. With my medical weight loss program, I’m on a mission to change that.Â
I see the doctor/patient relationship as just that — a relationship. My favorite part of my job is getting to know you, learning your goals and dreams, and helping you achieve them in a way that works for your life. As part of my program, we’ll be working together very closely. So, let’s get to know each other!

My Credentials

I am dual board certified in both family medicine and obesity medicine. I dedicated several years to serving as a primary care physician before undergoing extensive training in obesity medicine. I also have a Master’s degree in public health, with an emphasis on nutrition.

My JourneyÂ
I grew up on a farm in rural Kansas, in a small town of about 1,000 people. Since I was a little kid surrounded by farm animals, I knew I wanted to be a doctor. I saw very clearly that my purpose was to help people. After earning my Master’s degree in nutrition and public health, I was ready for my next challenge. I became a board-certified physician in family medicine. During my residency, I discovered a deep passion for preventative healthcare and building relationships with my patients.Â
But when I got into practice, something was missing. I realized that our healthcare system is focused on slapping Band-Aids on sicknesses, instead of trying to prevent them in the first place. This was especially frustrating to me when it came to weight issues. So many women came to me struggling with their weight. I tried my best to counsel them in the short amount of time we had together. But the truth is, physicians aren't trained in obesity care because obesity is so often overlooked and stigmatized.Â
When I learned about obesity as a chronic disease, it changed everything. I earned my board certification in obesity medicine, and I have now dedicated my life to helping people manage and treat obesity. When I’m not working as a physician, I love spending time with my family, including two young kids, and exploring the outdoors on hikes with my sister. I’m a lifelong learner, and you can usually find me reading or listening to a podcast.Â
Now, It's Time To Get To Know You!
The first step is to fill out a short questionnaire to see if it’s a fit for you. Then, you’ll set up a short call with me, where we will talk all about your goals, roadblocks, and how I can help.
